FPL Vibes Prize League Roundup – AUGUST

So it has begun folks.  Everyone has started their engines and the one to have jumped out ahead of the pack and the fastest out of the blocks is Alon Cooper with his team AC GUNNERS FC. With his superb start, Alon claims the monthly prize of a club jersey of his choice from our official kit supplier, Red Mango Kits. For his prize, Alon has selected an Arsenal Home Jersey Size XL no name/number.

Alon is an FPL manager of some repute and seems to be following up on a good showing last year in the league. He of course sits in first place after the first three gameweeks and we must also recognize Sheldon Wood with his team Los Galacticos who is 2nd and Marc Quesnel with his team Small_Change who is in 3rd position. Let us take a deeper look at how Alon navigated through the traditional uncertainty of the start of the FPL.

In Gameweek 1, Alon amassed an impressive total of 82 points with the high point players being captain Hazard (16), Mignolet (15), Kevin Nolan (11) and Ashley Cole (10). This Gameweek offered the option of double points as Chelsea and Aston Villa played twice. Alon capitalised on this fact by selecting three Chelsea players, Mata, Hazard and Ashley Cole. We can see that it paid off with the last two mentioned players in his side. For Gameweek 2, Alon sold Mata and Anelka for Yaya Toure and Dzeko clearly sniffing some riches out of Manchester City’s schedule. On this occasion AC GUNNERS FC totalled 66 points with the ‘high men’ being captain Dzeko (16), Baines(9) and both A. Cole and Giroud with 8 points. For Gameweek 3 Alon sold Hazard and Bennett to get Ward-Prowse and Zabaleta and the resulting haul was 65 points. The big earners were Zabaleta (12), Yaya Toure (11) and Baines (8). Despite a Dzeko captaincy failure AC GUNNERS FC got to 60 plus in a Gameweek, an amazing effort highlighting the depth of Alon’s side.

Alon has taken the bull by the horns but the race course is long and winding and full of obstacles.  Some managers are happy, some are not and some are even contemplating taking the wildcard option. There is a lot in store in this shortened FPL month due to the international break. Hopefully plans are not ruined by injuries during this break and we enjoy the vibes.

Cheers and good luck for September my fellow managers!
