Happy New year to all the fpl folks out there and we come again to salute yet another monthly prize winner. The December king is Robert Simmons with his team Tangentman4Eva FC and his sterling performance (not the young Liverpool winger) has also landed him top spot in the league. For his monthly prize, Robert has selected a Bayern Munich #7 Ribery Home Kit from our official kit supplier Red Mango Kits.
Robert is closely followed by Five by Five FC – Vivek Bissoon in second place and in third spot we have previous leader Tygah Kyat FC – Renee Milford. Congratulations to the frontrunners at the halfway point of the league. Let us recognize that winning the December prize more so than many FPL months is a difficult and tricky task. There were six gameweeks in December and the games came thick and fast. Robert certainly showed his guile and tactical acumen in pulling off the December victory and we shall now take a more in depth look at his tactics.
In Gameweek 14 the ‘tangent man’ ripped it up with a whopping 115 points. High men being captain Suarez(48), the Belgian wonder Hazard(17) and Mesut(may I assist you) Ozil (11). For Gameweek 15 Robert sold Clyne to get Ward in, jumping on the ‘Tony Pulis Crystal Palace revival’ bandwagon as others also did. A solid 76 point week resulted with high point earners being captain Suarez(30), Ozil(10) and Chico(9). The Ward buy paid off immediately with a clean sheet and bonus point. Before Gameweek 16 Robert sold Brady and Chico to get Redmond and Coleman in and the total on this occasion was 82 points. The outstanding players were Suarez(22), captain Lukaku(10) and the flying Irishman fullback Coleman(10). Prior to Gameweek 17 ‘the Tangentista’ sold the injured Aguero and replaced him with Negredo. The Gameweek total here was 68 points with captain Suarez(32),Coleman(8) and Terry(6) standing out. Gameweek 18 was on Boxing Day and Robert got into the festive mood by making three transfers, Morrison, Ozil and Mignolet out with Walcott, Mannone and Cabaye in. He garnered 67 points with Walcott(15), Hazard(10) and Mannone(10) ripping it up. To end off December in gameweek 19 ‘the tangent wagon’ sold the injured Ramsey to get Cabaye. He managed this purchase despite the player’s name ‘Cah-buy’!!! 61 points this time for Tangentman4Eva FC. Due to the no show of his captain Yaya Toure the vice captain Walcott assumed the mantle with 12 points. Hazard and Coleman also shone with 10 points apiece.
The tangentry is working and Robert has taken top spot in the league at the halfway point. The league has provided many twists and turns and a lot more are expected with double gameweeks normally occuring in the second half of the season. Interesting times are ahead as players ponder the use of their January wildcards and position themselves for the final push to May.
Interesting times ahead… Can you feel the vibes?
