The FPL Vibes Prize League 2013-14 Roundup

With the World Cup now complete and many football aficionados already looking forward to the upcoming Barclays Premier League season, we take a look back at the top finishers in last season’s edition of the FPL Vibes Prize League.

Congratulations to the winner of the FPL Vibes Prize League 2013-14, Nigel Smith with his team Trini Red Devils. After a modest start at the beginning of the season, Nigel put the pedal to the floor in November to claim the November Monthly prize.  He exhibited shrewd management over the busy Christmas schedule and beyond, and his consistency allowed him to repeat as monthly prize winner by claiming the April Monthly Prize. A strong finish through May kept him clear of the stiff competition from his nearest challengers and ensured that Nigel claimed the grand prize of an Apple MacBook Air and FPL Vibes Trophy.

Nigel finished the 2013-14 Fantasy League with a grand total of 2,466 points and an overall rank of 1,341 in the world. He also finished 3rd amongst all players from Trinidad and Tobago making this his best ever performance in the game. Kudos to Nigel on a remarkable season.

In second place was Vivek Bissoon with his team Five by Five FC.  Vivek enjoyed a stellar season, beginning well and maintaining a consistency that saw him placed in an around the top 5 places throughout the course of the season. Vivek occupied top spot briefly in March and April and pushed for the title to very end, to claim his second prize of an Apple IPad 5 Air. Congrats to Vivek on a superb season.

Our second runner up was Robert Simmons with his team TangentMan4Eva FC. After a somewhat subdued start, Robert hit the NOS in December to claim the monthly prize. There was no looking back as he pressed hard through the second half of the season to join the leading pack. His second successive 3rd place finish in the FPL Vibes Prize League saw him claim the 3rd place prize of a Sony Playstation 4.

Rounding out the top 5 were last year’s overall winner Rene Ribeiro with his team BESBRAHN FC and Alon Cooper with his team AC Gunners FC. Defending champion Rene endured a tough start to the season but recovered in January and never looked back as he claimed the monthly prize for February. Rene’s 4th place finished earned him the prize of an Amazon Kindle Fire . Alon enjoyed an overall productive season as his impressive form earned him monthly prizes for both August and January months. Alon’s 5th place finish gave him a triple kit haul as he claimed the 5th prize of an  Official Club Jacket of choice. He chose an Arsenal Club Jacket.

Finally, in the annual personal podcast bet between FPL Vibes co-hosts Darryl Celestine and Omar Romero, revenge was in order as I claimed the prize of a 1 Litre bottle of Johnnie Walker Black. While I should acknowledge that this was an uncharacteristically average season from my arch rival, I’d much rather call it order restored and I look forward to more of the same for the upcoming season. Long may it continue!!
